Gyudon (Japanese Beef Rice Bowl)

This no mirin gyudon is a simple but satisfying meal. The thinly sliced beef is cooked in a perfect salty and subtly sweet sauce with onions. Add an onsen egg and it's absolutely delicious. This is a no mirin, no sake (no alcohol) version of the classic beef rice bowl for anyone who craves for gyudon but wants to keep it halal.

What you need

lb beef

cup water
tsp dashi

tbsp light soy sauce

tbsp apple cider vinegar

tbsp honey

tsp sugar

green onion
Instructions
0 In a bowl, make the sauce by mixing water, dashi granules, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey and sugar. 1 Pour the sauce into a pan and bring to boil over medium heat. 2 Once it starts boiling, add the onions and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes or until the onion the onion is cooked. 3 Add the beef and stir.
